The top three players in the world will take part in an exhibition tournament to kick start their new season in the $250,000 event in Abu Dhabi.
Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are all preparing for the Australian Open which gets underway next month from Melbourne Park in what is the first Grand Slam of 2012.
The trio of players at top of the world rankings will be joined by David Ferrer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gael Monfils in the Gulf for the Mubadala World Tennis Championship at the Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex in Zayed Sports City.
Djokovic and Nadal shared the Grand Slam titles last season with the Spaniard continuing his dominance in the French Open, whilst the Serbian captured the other three titles in a dominant season for the world number one. Those following the latest online tennis betting odds should remember this.
Although there were no Slams for Federer in 2011, he did win the end of season World Tour Finals at the 02 Arena in London, with success also coming in Doha, Paris and Basle. The Swiss star is the in-form player going into the new campaign with a 17-match winning run without defeat.
The next 12 months will be a busy schedule for the world’s top players with the Olympics scheduled on the calendar from London. Nadal will be defending the gold medal he won in 2008 in Beijing where he defeated Fernando Gonzalez in the final.
Nadal’s last competitive action was in the Davis Cup where he helped Spain to their second trophy in three years, beating Argentina in the final in Seville. Nadal was responsible for winning the decisive rubber against Juan Martin Del Potro.
